Hematology is the discipline of studying blood, and phlebotomy is the discipline of extracting blood. These two artforms along with all sciences, are ones that house the first cultural interactions with blood as well as the knowledge which came after its presence in human study being a staple for advancement. There are four powerful components to a blood matrix which are all termed as red blood cells, white blood cells, plasma, and platelets. Red blood cells transport oxygen throughout the body. White blood cells serve in the way of actively participating in the body's immune response. Plasma houses and facilitates the distribution of nutrients throughout the body, and platelets aid in the clotting procedures done when the blood of the body flows from a point that must be actively sealed.
